Double Rainbow Florida

Absentia, Memoria, Florida Part Three: Florida

It had been 35 years since I’d been to Florida.  I didn’t enjoy it as a child, too humid, too sticky, worse than summer in NJ, and it rained every day I was there.  This trip was very different….

Greeted by rainbows all along the ride from Orlando to Sebastian, the storms this time had moved off coast and stayed away for my entire trip.  Good riddance!  It was still HOT, it was still STICKY, but it was nice, sunny, and I was staying in a really beautiful spot along the Indian River Lagoon.

View from the dock at Ferndale Lodge

The view north off the Ferndale Lodge’s long T shaped dock.  The lodge also provides kayaks and canoes for guests to use free of charge. The water though very wide is mostly very shallow, like you could walk to the islands in the middle, the water is also slow moving.
